250 years of Robert Jones

R. Jones, A Treatise on Skating

 A Treatise on Skating (1772)

Today marks the 250th anniversary of Robert Jones’s conviction!

Robert Jones is the author of the oldest surviving book on ice skating. On July 18, 1772, he was convicted of child molestation. His conviction may have increased sales of his skating book, which was published sometime between the beginning of 1772 and his trial.

To commemorate this anniversary, here is a free pdf of the Skating History Press edition of Robert Jones’s Treatise on Skating. You can find more information about the trial in the introduction.
